QUALITE PHYSICO-CHIMIQUE ET PARAMETRES DE POLLUTION DES EAUX SOUTERRAINES DE LA REGION DE BISKRA
Abstract
This study's main objective is the diagnosis of the quality of groundwater in the Biskra area. The analysis of the physico-chemical quality included 12 samples from boreholes in different aquifers exploited in the area, used for human consumption. The results showed that the water of the limestone aquifer (Maestrichian) is better than other aquifers (phreatic, Miopliocene, Eocene). This affects more particularly the pH, conductivity (mineralization), total hardness and the concentration of the major elements. The study of the pollution parameters showed that there was an excess in the concentration of nitrate and manganese and the ammonia. This may possibly be due to the proximity of agricultural land as well as industrial areas in the case of some boreholes. To this end, continuous assessment of the water quality is imperative and treatment to reduce the deterioration of water quality and eliminate health problems may be necessary.
