GHRIB AND BOUKOURDANE (ALGERIA): WHEN THE WATER DISCHARGED FROM THE DAMS FEED THE ALLUVIAL AQUIFER

S. ABAIDIA, B. REMINI

Abstract

This paper examines the artificial recharge of water tables by the releases of dams. Two cases have been taken as an example; they are the Boukourdane and Ghrib dams. After each release at the two dams, the level of the alluvial water table was monitored by a network of wells installed downstream of each dam. It turns out that after each emptying operation, the water level in the wells rises. The alluvial aquifer benefits from a volume of water from the dam and is recharged regularly after each release.
