GIS BASED SCS-CN METHOD FOR ESTIMATING RUNOFF IN SIGUS WATERSHED
Abstract
Runoff is a complex phenomenon with harmful consequences such as floods and erosion. In order to better determine the hydrological behavior and areas with maximum flow producing in Sigus watershed, the present work focus on determination of the runoff coefficient by the SCS-CN method using the HEC-GeoHMS software. First, the creation of landuse and soils type databases under a GIS (ArcGIS). Then, assembling, data processing and simulation. Finally, results interpretation. The results indicate that the most favorable runoff areas are those with soil type '' Clay ''and landuse ''Rocky Land ''.The study shows that for extreme rainfall events, runoff coefficient is very high.
